ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve

On 22 November 2019, the APTERR Secretariat honorarily welcomed Mr. Rapibhat Chandarasrivongs, the new Secretary General of the Office of Agricultural and Economics (OAE) and Thailand’s APTERR Council, as well as the officials from the International Agricultural Economics Division, to the APTERR Secretariat’s office.

The APTERR Secretariat together with representatives from the Republic of Korea (ROK) were invited to attend the ceremonial handover and distribution of Korea's 500-MT rice to assist people affected by severe floods triggered by tropical storm Podul and tropical depression Kajiki.

The APTERR Secretariat led by Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, General Manager, and Mr. Takaya Komine, Director of the Grain Trade and Operation Division and his team from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), Japan were welcomed by Dr. Ye Yin Tun, Director General of the Department of Agriculture (DOA) of Ministry Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Myanmar to the DOA’s warehouse located in Nay Pyi Taw on 30 October 2019.

General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat Mr.Chanpithya Shimphalee together with APTERR teams witnessed the distribution of 229.52 MT-rice contributed by the Korean government to assist nearly 30,000 people affected by severe floods and landslides in Bago region, Myanmar on 29 October 2019.

Hundreds of people witnessed the significant ceremonial distribution of 560 MT of rice contributed by the Government of Japan to people affected by tropical cyclones INENG (BAILU) and JENNY (PODUL) through APTERR Tier 3 programme.
