Asean Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve

On 22 November 2019, the APTERR Secretariat honorarily welcomed Mr. Rapibhat Chandarasrivongs, the new Secretary General of the Office of Agricultural and Economics (OAE) and Thailand’s APTERR Council, as well as the officials from the International Agricultural Economics Division, to the APTERR Secretariat’s office.

The Government of Thailand has provided an in-kind contribution to support the operation of the APTERR by allocating an office space located at the 2nd floor of the OAE building to be the permanent office of the APTERR Secretariat since the pilot project of the East Asian Emergency Rice Reserve (EAERR), later transformed to the APTERR.

On the occasion of his official visit, the APTERR Secretariat held a small meeting to present APTERR’s activities and achievement to the Secretary General for building a mutual understanding of the organisation. The meeting had a fruitful discussion and produced a set of useful recommendations on improving a role of Thailand in participating in APTERR’s activities.

This official visit was a great opportunity of the APTERR Secretariat to share opinions and take some ideas and suggestions for continuous developing the organisation along with the sustainability.
