ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, the General Manager, led the APTERR Secretariat members to attend the Big Cleaning Day event organised by the Office of the Secretary, Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) of Thailand, held on 20th March 2025. On this point, Mr. Chantanon Wannakejohn, Secretary General of OAE, delivered the opening remarks to the participants and gave the significance of the event, which aimed to strengthen the collaboration within the divisions and relevant organisations, including the International Agricultural Economics Division, AFSIS Secretariat, APTERR Secretariat and more. Besides, the event also aimed to prepare the office building for the upcoming 46th anniversary of OAE on 24th March 2025.
On 25 November 2024, the APTERR Council from Myanmar, Mr. Thura Soe, the Deputy Director General from Department of Agriculture (DOA), Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MOALI), and his team visit the APTERR Secretariat office to discuss on the implementation of Tier 3 programme. prospective cooperation.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, the General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, extended a warm welcome to Mr. Somchai Channarongkul, a senator of Thai Parliament and a member of Parliament Committee on Agriculture, at the APTERR Secretariat on 22 March 2024. Mr. Channarongkul has served many prominent positions of Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives as the former Director General of Department of Agriculture, Department of Cooperative Promotion, and Department of Agricultural Extension (2008-2018).
The APTERR Secretariat team, led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager along with Mr. Akinori Ando, Japanese Expert, and APTERR Staff, attended the Big Cleaning Day event held by the Office of the Secretary, Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand. In this regard, Mr. Chantanon Wannakejohn, Secretary General of OAE delivered the opening remarks to the participants. The event aimed to strengthen the collaboration among the divisions and relevant organisations while preparing the office building for the upcoming 45th anniversary of OAE in during late April 2024.
The APTERR Secretariat led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) warmly welcomed representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan including Dr. Hideki Hagiwara, Deputy Assistant Minister, Minister’s Secretariat, Mr. Hideyuki Morii, Director and Senior Negotiator, Bilateral Affairs Division, Export and International Affairs Bureau, Ms. Shoko Kasai, Bilateral Affairs Division, Export and International Affairs Bureau together with Mr. Tadayuki Kanenaga from the Embassy of Japan in Thailand at the APTERR Secretariat on 23 February 2024. The APTERR GM and the representatives from MAFF of Japan exchanged views and information on food security in ASEAN Plus Three (APT) region as well as sought further cooperation.
