On 25 November 2019, Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, was invited by the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE) of Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand, to attend the meeting on “the strategy on agricultural development and food security policy” with a group of distinguished representatives from the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security of Indonesia.
The meeting was presided and led by Mr. Rapibhat Chandarasrivongs, Secretary General of the OAE and Thailand’s APTERR Council.
Concerning the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters in the region, especially Indonesia, Mr. Chanpithya assured the meeting that the APTERR Secretariat will continue its mandate in strengthening food security in the region and hoped to further enhance cooperation with Indonesia and Thailand in engaging APTERR’s activities in the future.
Besides the issues of food security, the meeting discussed and shared information and experience on national strategy on agricultural development in order to improve farmer’s livelihoods and expand country’s agricultural products to the world market.
