ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve

Ms. Nattavadee Sraprathum, Staff for Implementation as the representative from the APTERR Secretariat, attended the Disaster Resilience Week’s side event, which jointly organised the UN Satellite Centre (UNOSAT) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), to celebrate UNOSAT’s 20 years of satellite imagery applications for enhanced disaster resilience on 26 August 2021 via teleconference.

The APTERR internship programme opens for university students to grab a chance in learning and exploring a professional practice. This year, the APTERR Secretariat welcomed Mr. Thammarat Utsa, a fourth-year student from the Division of International Affairs, Khon Kaen University International College (KKUIC), Khon Kaen University, to join our internship programme.

The APTERR Secretariat official introduced the latest initiative ‘APTERR Annual Report on Food Security and Outlook’ to its members on 10 June 2021 with the aim of sharing comprehensive information on food security and other aspects of food supply and demand situations. The report will be released to the members on an annual basis.

Ms.Nattavadee Sraprathum and Mr.Pirapat Shimphalee as the representatives from the APTERR Secretariat participated in the ‘Multi-stakeholder Consultation on the Draft FAO Regional Strategy on Food Loss and Waste Reduction in Asia and the Pacific’ virtually held during 1 – 2 June 2021 by Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations (UN).

Japan’s 222-MT rice contributed through the APTERR’s Tier 3 programme was completely distributed to 7,400 households in six provinces of Cambodia namely Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Prey Veng, Pursat, Kampong Thom and Thbong Khmum during 30 April to 5 May 2021. Those beneficiaries faced the life-threatening food insecurity due to a prolonged drought and deadly floods causing large-scale damages to widespread areas in the country.
