ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve
The APTERR Secretariat, on 24 August 2022, attended the Special Senior Officials Meeting of the 21st Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry Plus Three (SSOM-21st AMAF+3) chaired by Indonesia. Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, reported the progress on the APTERR programmes and activities during 2021-2022 to the meeting.
The representatives from the APTERR Secretariat including Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager; Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert; and the APTERR staff, on 16 August 2022, visited the National Food Agency (NFA) of Indonesia to attend the meeting on enhancing the APTERR’s activities after ten years of service. The aims of the meeting were to strengthen the APTERR mechanism and have mutual understanding among relevant parties on the next step of the APTERR’s activities
On 10 August 2022, Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, led Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert, along with the APTERR staff to visit the Department of Groundwater Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand for building cooperation and collaboration relating to the line of APTERR’s works.
The APTERR team led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager, together with Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert, visited the Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) under the Office of the Prime Minister of Thailand on 25 July 2022 to introduce APTERR’s activities, and build possible cooperation and collaboration with the ONWR represented as the Thai National Mekong Committee Secretariat (TNMCS), the focal point of the Mekong River Commission (MRC) in Thailand.
On 22 July 2022, Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, warmly welcomed Dr. Thanawat Tiensin, Minister of the Office of Agricultural Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy in Rome, Italy, to the APTERR Secretariat office for having a discussion and exchanging views on the current food security situation as well as APTERR’s roles and activities in enhancing food security in the ASEAN Plus Three region.
