ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve
On 16 September, the 7th ASEAN-China Agricultural Cooperation Forum was held in Nanning city, Guangxi, the People’s Republic of China (P.R. China). The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) of P.R. China and the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region while it was also attended by distinguished delegates from the ASEAN Member States (AMS) plus P.R. China.
On 7 September 2023, Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of the APTERR Secretariat, together with Mr. Akinori Ando, Japanese Expert, and APTERR staff members had an opportunity to meet with the representatives from the World Food Programme (WFP) Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific led by Mr. Arvind Betigeri, Senior Rice Fortification Advisor, and Ms. Anusara Singhkumarwong, Regional Nutritionist, at the office of APTERR Secretariat.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of the APTERR Secretariat and Mr. Akinori Ando, Japanese Expert welcomed Mr. Roderico R. Bioco, Administrator of the National Food Authority (NFA) of the Philippines, together with Engr. John Robert R. Hermano, Assistant Administrator for Operations, Mr. Piolito C. Santos, Assistant Administrator for Finance and Administration, and Engr. Roger V. Navarro, Special Assistant to the Administrator, on 31 August 2023, to the APTERR Secretariat office in Bangkok.
On 22-23 August 2023, The Special Senior Officials Meeting of the 44st Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (SSOM-44th AMAF) and the Special Senior Officials Meeting of the 22st Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry Plus Three (SSOM-22st AMAF+3) was held respectively through video conference by Lao PDR, as the host country, and the ASEAN Secretariat.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of APTERR Secretariat together with Mr. Akinori Ando, a Japanese Expert as well as the APTERR staff members had the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) consisting of Mr. Qingfeng Zhang, Senior Director of Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development, Ms. Yasmin Siddiqi, Director of Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office, Mr. Navin Twarakavi, Senior Digital Agriculture Specialist, Mr. Shingo Kimura, Senior Natural Resources and Agriculture Specialist, Ms. Noriko Sato, Senior Natural Resources Specialist, and Mr. Kiyoshi Nakamitsu, Principal Urban and Social Sector Specialist, on 15 August 2023, at the ADB office in Manila, the Philippines.
