Congratulations to the new Secretary General of the OAE

On 5 October 2020, the APTERR Secretariat led by Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, General Manager, had a courtesy visit to Mr. Chantanon Wannakejohn to express heartfelt congratulations on his new appointment as Secretary General of the Office of Agricultural and Economics (OAE). Mr. Chantanon also serves as the APTERR Council member of Thailand.

This day, 7 October 2020, marks a day of remembrance of APTERR mechanism as we celebrate our 9th anniversary of APTERR establishment to be a permanent mechanism for strengthening food security, poverty alleviation, and malnourishment eradication, along with overall improving quality of people’s lives throughout the ASEAN Plus Three Region.

FIELD STUDY ON RICE SEED DEVELOPMENT AND ORGANIC AGRICULTURE

The APTERR Secretariat always realises the importance of human resource development as one of the key elements to accomplish the goal of ensuring and strengthening food security in the ASEAN+3 region. Therefore, to provide the staff members’ knowledge and experience, the field study was organised from 30 September - 2 October 2020 in the provinces of Pathumthani and Nakhon Ratchasima.

On 9 September 2020, the APTERR Secretariat was cordially invited by Ms. Siti Atiqah Fatin Zainal Abidin, First Secretary (Agriculture) of the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok, to attend a luncheon of the Malaysia Food Fest at Shangri-La hotel, Bangkok. On this occasion, Mr. Mohd Azim, First Secretary, together with Ms. Ananya Benchanavee, Marketing Officer (Agriculture) of the Embassy of Malaysia, also joined the event.

Field Study on the Satellite Warehouse under DELSA in Chainat

On 21 August 2020, the APTERR Secretariat team led by Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, General Manager, took a field study to visit the Satellite Warehouse under Disaster Emergency Logistics System for ASEAN (DELSA) in Chainat province of Thailand. The field study aimed at providing the APTERR Staff members with new knowledge and experiences which will be applicable for the operations of APTERR as well as seeking cooperation with agencies concerned in coping with food insecurity situations.

The 40th Meeting of the ASEAN Food Security Reserve Board (AFSRB)

On 23 July 2020, the representatives from the APTERR Secretariat participated in the 40th Meeting of the ASEAN Food Security Reserve Board (AFSRB) via video conference at the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand. The Meeting was organised by the AFSRB Secretariat and hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Viet Nam.

Sharing APTERR’s experiences with the Mission of the P.R. China to ASEAN for the setting-up of regional medical reserve

On 8 July 2020, the APTERR Secretariat led by Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, General Manager, attended online meeting with Ms. Fang Bing, the Counsellor, Ms. Mei Fang, Director for Functional Cooperation, and Mr. Wang Dongliang, the official of the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN to discuss on the  APTERR mechanism. The meeting’s objectives were to improve understandings about APTERR and to collect information for    possibly adopting  as one of  role models of the ASEAN Regional Reserve of Medical Supplies and Equipment (RRMSE).
