On 25 March 2021, Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, received a farewell courtesy call from Mr. Nao Muramatsu, the outgoing First Secretary for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Embassy of Japan in Bangkok and, at the same time, welcomed   Ms. Hiroko Matsuo, who is the successor of Mr. Muramatsu.

Handover of Japan’s 300-MT rice to prevent food insecurity in Cambodia

On 23 March 2021, Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, General Manager, led the APTERR Secretariat to participate in the ceremonial handover of 300-MT rice contributed by Japan through the Tier 3 programme as one of its endeavors to ensure food security in Cambodia. The ceremony was hosted and organised virtually by the General Directorate of Agriculture (GDA), Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Cambodia under a supervision of Dr. Ngin Chhay, Director General, who also participated in the event.

On 19 January 2021, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee and the APTERR staff participated in the virtual meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan represented by Director-General of Crop Production Bureau Mr. Takashi Amo together with Director of Grain Trade and Operation Division Mr. Hideki Hagiwara and his team.

The Workshop on Rice Demand and Supply Forecasting

On 13 January 2021, the APTERR Secretariat organised the Workshop on Rice Demand and Supply Forecasting and invited the honorable keynote speaker, Dr. Apichart Pongsrihadulchai, the former Vice Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives and the former Chief Advisor to Director-General of Rice Department, to give a discussion and lecturing on forecasting rice situation, especially rice demand and supply.

Sufferings of people in the Philippines due to Super Typhoon Goni are erased by APTERR’ 1,000-MT rice contributed by Korea.

The ceremonial turnover of 1,000 MT rice contributed by the Republic of Korea (ROK) was held on 18 December 2020 marking a significant step in an effort to mitigate the impact on food security caused by the world’s most violent typhoon in 2020, Typhoon Goni. The rice will be distributed to affected families in the Island Province of Catanduanes, one of the most devastated provinces wrecked by the typhoon. The ceremony was hosted by the National Food Authority (NFA) under a supervision of Administrator Atty. Judy Carol L. Dansal at the NFA-Batangas in Batangas City, the Philippines.

KOREA’S 600-MT RICE TO MYANMAR FOR FIGHTING AGAINST FOOD INSECURITY AMID A WIDESPREAD OF COVID-19

The surging number of COVID-19 infections in Myanmar has caused a concern on food insecurity in the country. The APTERR, therefore, has released 600 MT of rice contributed by the Government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) through the prepositioned stockpiled rice system under Tier 3, for providing immediate rice assistance to those affected by impacts of COVID-19; mostly quarantined people and patient under investigation (PUI), in 10 states and regions in Myanmar.

Let’s Go Green! Korea’s eco-friendly initiative ‘Upcycled Bag Project’ contributed to Myanmar in support of APTERR activities

Being able to promote environmental sustainability at the same time with providing rice assistance to disaster-affected people is considered as enormous benefits for both member countries and the APTERR activities. The APTERR Secretariat, therefore, enthusiastically supports the Republic of Korea (ROK)’s Upcycled Project’ implemented in Myanmar.

Online farewell meeting for Myanmar’s APTERR Council member

On 27 October 2020, the APTERR Secretariate led by Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee, General Manager, attended the online farewell meeting for Mr. Aye Ko Ko, Deputy Director General of the Department of Agriculture (DOA), Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the APTERR Council member from Myanmar, who will be retired in November 2020.
