On 23 July 2026, Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, warmly welcomed delegates from Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting (MURC) Thailand and Bank of Ayudhya for a knowledge-sharing session on regional food security and sustainable development, while exploring potential areas for future cooperation.
During the meeting, Dr. Choomjet introduced the APTERR mechanism and highlighted its key operations and activities, particularly the implementation of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 programmes, which support rapid emergency response to the APTERR member countries. He also presented the Food Emergency Monitoring and Information (FEMI), APTERR’s main decision-supporting tool in monitoring regional food security situations and facilitating timely decisions on the utilisation of APTERR stocks.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kazuki Ikegami, Managing Director of MURC Thailand, together with his team, introduced MURC Thailand and shared the company’s expertise and ongoing initiatives. The discussion provided a valuable opportunity for both parties to exchange insights on regional food security and identify areas of mutual interest.
The meeting concluded with a constructive exchange of ideas, laying the groundwork for continued communication and the exploration of potential opportunities for future cooperation in areas of shared interest, particularly knowledge sharing and public-private partnership (PPP)-related initiatives that contribute to strengthening regional food security and promoting sustainable development.
