During 24-25 June 2026, the 46th Meeting of ASEAN Food Security Reserve Board (AFSRB) was successfully held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. The meeting was participated by ASEAN Member States (AMS) and other related organisations such as ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Secretariat, and APTERR Secretariat with the main focus on the food security situations among the AMS.
In this regard, Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, led the APTERR Secretariat team to virtually attended the meeting to present the update and progress on the APTERR operations and activities including APTERR Tier 1, Tier 2, and also Tier 3 programme which is the most active APTERR operation. Besides, Dr. Karnjanakesorn also provided the outcomes of the Food Emergency Monitoring and Information (FEMI)’s assessment and monitoring which were compiled into several reports and publications. Furthermore, the meeting also took note on the successful APTERR Table Top Exercise (TTX) which aimed to further strengthen the APTERR mechanism for effective emergency preparedness and response. Lastly, Dr. Karnjanakesorn updated the meeting on the strategic collaboration between APTERR and Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the continued technical assistance and the partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to launched APTERR-WFP Rice Fortification Pilot Project which has been implemented in Lao PDR utilising Japan’s 300 MT rice contribution under FY 2026 pre-positioned programme.
The APTERR Secretariat will proactively continue is operations and activities to further strengthen the food security and nutrition in the region.
