ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve
The APTERR Secretariat led by Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager together with Mr. Akinori Ando, Japanese Expert welcomed Mr. Yuichiro Murahashi, Bureau Chief of the Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS)’s Bangkok office, and his correspondent Ms. Kaewalin Tanvatcharapanee to the APTERR Secretariat office on 15 January 2024 for greeting, and conferring on the possibility of collaboration.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of APTERR Secretariat was invited by the International Institute for Trade and Development (ITD) of Thailand to be a keynote speaker in addressing a topic of ‘Thailand’s food security in comparison to the ASEAN countries at the conference on ‘Food Security in the Context of Thai Trade’ on 18 December 2023 at Pullman Bangkok Grande Sukhumvit Hotel.
General Manager Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn led a team of APTERR Secretariat to pay a courtesy call on the Philippines’ new Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary H.E. Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. on 16 November 2023 in occasion of attending the ceremonial handover and distribution of 20-MT rice for Japan’s new initiative ‘School Distribution Programme’ under Tier 3 to promote food security in school students in the Philippines.
On 9 November 2023, Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of APTERR Secretariat and Mr. Akinori Ando, Japanese Expert, along with APTERR staff participated in the Inception Workshop “Regenerative Agriculture in ASEAN: Promoting Nature-Positive Solutions for Rice Production (REGA-ASEAN)” at the Asian Institute of Technology Conference Centre, Thailand.
