General Manager Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn of the APTERR Secretariat paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Tor Saralamba, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar, on 1 October 2026, at the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar.
Dr. Choomjet introduced APTERR’s activities and its role in strengthening food security in the ASEAN Plus Three region, highlighting the ongoing Tier 3 rice assistance programme in Myanmar. Both parties exchanged views on Myanmar’s current food security situation and the humanitarian needs.
The visit coincided with the handover ceremonies of APTERR Tier 3 rice, as part of the release of 750 MT contributed by the People’s Republic of China and 841.2 MT contributed by the Republic of Korea, to assist people affected by severe monsoon floods across Myanmar. This engagement provided an opportunity to enhance recognition of APTERR's activities and reaffirm its commitment to strengthening regional food security through cooperation among its member countries.
