Asean Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve

The 7th Meeting of ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) Council was held on 19 – 20 February 2019 in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

 

The Meeting was organised by the APTERR Secretariat and hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry of Malaysia. The Meeting was attended by member countries and APTERR staff members. Dr. Zunika Binti Mohamed, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry of Malaysia presided over this meeting.

 

The APTERR Council meeting is held annually for discussing direction of 
the APTERR Secretariat and its activities for the following year. For this year, the Meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Zunika Binti Mohamed, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry of Malaysia and Mr. Yuichi Sato, Managing Director of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan. Discussion issues were on the final performance appraisal of the APTERR GM which the Meeting agreed to renew the contract of the APTERR GM for another 3-year term of service, update on the financial contribution, work plans and budget plans, the 2nd phase of financial contribution, the implementation of Tier 1 Programme as well as achievements on emergency rice releases to member countries under Tier 3 Programme for strengthening food security and alleviating poverty.

 

Afterwards, participants visited Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex, Petronas (Twin Tower) and Putrajaya tours for the field trip.
