ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve 

 On 17 July 2023, the APTERR Secretariat visited C.P. Thai Rice Co., Ltd., Ayutthaya province of Thailand to foster agricultural knowledge-sharing for fortifying food security in the region.

 

 

Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, together with Mr. Akinori Ando, Japanese Expert, as well as APTERR staff members met with Mr. Ongart Champakanan, Assistant Vice President of C.P. Intertrade Co., Ltd. and Khao C.P. Co., Ltd.   Researchers from the Ayutthaya Rice Research Centre, Rice Department, namely Mrs. Marisa Yamsaray and Ms. Pornpun Yanaso, also joined the programme.

 

 

 

 

During the visit, all participants had the opportunity to witness the firsthand operations of the company, gaining valuable insights into modern rice milling processes and supply chain management. The APTERR Secretariat team also engaged in an in-depth discussion on various aspects of rice production, post-harvest management, and domestic and worldwide distribution. Mr. Champakanan shared their expertise in climate-resilient rice farming and innovative post-harvest technologies. The discussion centred around implementing best practices to enhance rice production across the region.

 

 

 

 

Recognising the role of Ayutthaya province as a centre of Thai culture and long period of rice cultivation, the GM of the APTERR Secretariat expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and commended the efforts of C.P. Thai Rice Co., Ltd. in promoting responsible rice production.
