Asean Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve

Mr.Chanpithya Shimphalee, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, together with Mr. Yoshiharu Toeda, Japanese expert, welcomed Mr.Kotaro Suzuki, Ms.Motoko Hanada and Ms. Ratree Makmee, representatives from Japan-based trading company Kanamatsu Corporation for a visit of the APTERR Secretariat’s office on 31 May 2017.

 

Kanematsu Corporation participated in the APTERR Tier 3 programme as the Agent for supply and delivery of rice from Japan to Lao PDR and the Philippines for Tier 3 programme under Japan’s FY 2015 contribution.

 

During the small talk, the company provided the APTERR Secretariat with the updates on the current status of work and ensured the smooth operation on the delivery for rice to those abovementioned countries.

 

For Tier 3 programme under Japan’s FY 2015 contribution, the Japanese government donated 450 MT of rice to be stored in Lao PDR and the Philippine by divided into 225 MT each. Now, the rice has already stored in two countries in order to preparing for the emergency situation. If there is no emergency occurring during the 12-month storage period, the rice may be released for poverty alleviation and/or malnourishment eradication.
