Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of the APTERR Secretariat and Mr. Akinori Ando, Japanese Expert welcomed Mr. Roderico R. Bioco, Administrator of the National Food Authority (NFA) of the Philippines, together with Engr. John Robert R. Hermano, Assistant Administrator for Operations, Mr. Piolito C. Santos, Assistant Administrator for Finance and Administration, and Engr. Roger V. Navarro, Special Assistant to the Administrator, on 31 August 2023, to the APTERR Secretariat office in Bangkok.

The GM updated a progress of APTERR’s current activities in the Philippines to the NFA representatives. Both also had a fruitful discussion and exchanged views on the rice situation in the ASEAN region, particularly the Philippines and Thailand, the implementation of Tier 1 and Tier 2 of the APTERR Agreement, and the outlook of rice production impacted by El Nino Phenomenon. Apart from the meeting with the APTERR Secretariat, the NFA representatives took this opportunity to pay a courtesy call on Mr. Chantanon Wannakejohn, Secretary-General of the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE), the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and the APTERR Council member from Thailand.
