Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager (GM) of the APTERR Secretariat, together with Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert, and the APTERR staff paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador to Lao PDR at the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Lao PDR on 20 December 2022.
In this regard, Dr. Karnjanakesorn informed of APTERR’s activities and current visit to Lao PDR for the release of 1,000 MT of rice contributed by the Governments of Japan and the Republic of Korea through APTERR’s Tier 3 programme to assist Lao people who affected by floods and landslides.
Both sides exchanged views and discussed on how to improve the APTERR mechanism in enhancing food security in the ASEAN Plus Three region as well as achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Thailand, one of the APTERR members and a host country where the APTERR Secretariat is located, has been playing an active role in supporting the APTERR’s activities.
