On 17 May 2022, new General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn started his first mission aboard by attending the ceremonial distribution of Japan’s 3,333 bags out of 9,981 bags (equivalent 300-MT rice contribution) to enhance food security for people affected by Super Typhoon Rai, locally known as ‘Odette’, in the Philippines.
The event was organised by the National Food Authority (NFA) in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Deportment (DSWD) and the Local Government Units (LGUs) in Municipality of Balilihan, Province of Bohol.
Honorable representatives including NFA Administrator Judy Carol L. Dansal, Minister for Economic Affairs of the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines Masahiro Nakata, DSWD Undersecretary Felicisimo Budiongan and Bohol Governor Arthur C. Yap fully participated in this significant distribution together with 200 beneficiaries from local municipalities.
Japan’s 300-MT contribution under Tier 3 programme will be distributed to those affected by the catastrophic Super Typhoon Rai in Cebu and Bohol in Region VII and Surigao del Norte in CARAGA for sustaining their daily food requirements and recovery.
