Asean Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve

It was a great opportunity for the APTERR Secretariat to be invited to attend the virtual workshop on Food Security: Sharing Evidence and Policy Experiences organised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on 2 February 2023 to foster a policy dialogue on food security between the ASEAN and OECD member countries and secretariats.

The workshop was part of a wider project between the OECD and ASEAN aiming at discussing priorities and key challenges related to food security in the ASEAN region; encouraging co-operation in data collection, policy analysis and reporting activities done and planned for the ASEAN region; and developing a network that can sustain a long-term policy dialogue between the OECD and ASEAN. Through the workshop, there were five different subjects to be discussed including trade and domestic policy monitoring, agricultural markets and outlook, transparency and trade facilitation, sustainable support to fisheries, and sustainable fisheries management.

The representatives from the APTERR Secretariat acquired more knowledge and enhanced understanding on agriculture, fisheries, and food trade policies experiences sharing by relevant organisations. These will be applied to benefit the APTERR’s operations and also support the future sustainable development in the agricultural sector.
