On 21 September 2022, Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of APTERR Secretariat together with Mr. Toshiki Tojo, Japanese Expert, warmly welcomed the representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan, namely Mr. Kimura Keitaro, Director of the Statistics Planning Division, the Statistic Department and Mr. Hosaka Masahiro, Deputy Director as well as the ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Secretariat, comprising of Dr. Woraporn Saelee, Manager, Dr. Sumanya Ngandee, Deputy Manager, Mr. NIIMI Tomohiro, Japanese Expert along with the AFSIS staff to the APTERR Secretariat office for exchanging views on the food security information.
The APTERR Secretariat had a fruitful discussion with the representatives from the MAFF of Japan, and the AFSIS Secretariat on APTERR’s activities and an opportunity for future cooperation as well as the exchange of experiences and information on food security. As the data user, the APTERR Secretariat has benefited from the food security information provided by the AFSIS in supporting the APTERR’s operations, especially the analytical tool of Food Emergency Monitoring and Information (FEMI) for monitoring the food security situation in the region. Further, Dr. Karnjanakesorn reaffirmed that the APTERR would continue to collaborate and support AFSIS’s projects as well as its future plan to become a permanent international organisation.
