The meeting on an experimental Tier 1 implementation between the Philippines and Japan was held on 10 May 2018 at the National Food Authority (NFA) headquarter in Quezon City, the Philippines.  NFA Administrator, Lt. Col. Jason L.Y. Aquino (Ret) PA, presided the meeting with the attendance of representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan led by Director of Grain Trade and Operation, Mr. Tetsuo Ushikusa, and the APTERR Secretariat led by General Manager, Mr. Chanpithya Shimphalee.

 

The meeting discussed and exchanged views on several fundamental issues, such as rice specification, pricing method, delivery, payment and etc. The result of the meeting will help develop effective agreements based on a mutual consent of both parties.   

 

The APTERR Secretariat has actively promoted the implementation of Tier 1 programme to the APTERR member countries in parallel with the implementation of existing Tier 3 programme to ensure food security in the region.
