Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, and Ms. Nattavadee Sraprathum, Technical Staff for Food Emergency Monitoring and Information (FEMI), actively participated in the 22nd ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Focal Point Meeting hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia on 11 -12 June 2024 in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, presented the APTERR activities at the meeting.
During the meeting, the APTERR Secretariat presented a comprehensive overview of the APTERR’s activities from 2023 – 2024 highlighting collaboration with the AFSIS. The presentation not only fostered a deeper understanding of APTERR's vital role in safeguarding food security in the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) region but also garnered appreciation from the meeting on the APTERR’s swift assistance in time of emergency. Recognising a potential for enhancing collaboration between the APTERR and AFSIS, the meeting enthusiastically supported the APTERR Secretariat to partake in the AFSIS's workshops on data gathering and analysis.
Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn, General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat, received a souvenir from Datuk Azah Hanim Ahmad, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of KPKM, and Chairperson of the meeting.
The representatives from APT countries, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and Kasetsart University were also present at this meeting to provide updates on their collaborative projects with the AFSIS and discuss the transformation of the AFSIS to be a sustainable agency. Next year, Myanmar will host the 23rd AFSIS Focal Point Meeting in June.
