A representative from the APTERR Secretariat, Ms. Nattavadee Sraprathum, Staff for Implementation, attended the 19th Virtual ASEAN Food Security Information System (AFSIS) Focal Point Meeting on 22 – 23 June 2021 to enhance collaboration with the AFSIS and promote the APTERR’s activities during 2020 – 2021 together with its works related to the AFSIS.
The meeting admired the APTERR’s performances in strengthening food security, especially during difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic. The new initiative ‘APTERR Annual Report on Food Security 2020 and Outlook 2021’ also attracted the meeting’s attention. This report provides a comprehensive information of Food Emergency Monitoring and Information (FEMI) utilising statistical data of rice from the AFSIS.
The event gave an opportunity for the AFSIS member countries and relevant agencies to exchange views and share their experiences on food security information in the ASEAN region. This year’s meeting was hosted by Cambodia and participated by the representatives from ASEAN plus China, Japan and the Republic of Korea together with food security information-related agencies.
