Tier 3 rice inspection was held on 26 July 2017 for checking Tier 3 rice and warehouse conditions for keeping quantity and good quality of stored rice in Vientiane, Lao PDR in preparation for emergency situations. There are 225 MT of Tier 3 rice from Japan’s contribution. In advance of inspection, the APTERR Secretariat had a meeting with participants of the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry of Lao PDR.
Lao officers appreciated the APTERR Secretariat for implementation of the APTERR Tier 3 programme by Japan’s contribution. The Japanese Expert of the APTERR Secretariat, the representative of Japan, expressed that the Japanese government will continue to support Tier 3 programme in the future.
In inspection, the APTERR Secretariat was accompanied by the representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Lao PDR and the World Food Programme (WFP) to the warehouse located around 30 minutes away from the city of Vientiane for inspecting 225 MT of Tier 3 rice. They confirmed that 225 MT of Tier 3 rice has been stored in the warehouse and are secured with good conditions in the warehouse. Lao government and WFP representatives also appreciated the APTERR achievement of Tier 3 programme implementation.
