The Ceremonial Turnover of the 5,000 Metric Tons of donated rice from the Government of Thailand for the victims of super typhoon Haiyan was held on 23th April 2014 in Leyte and Samar province in the Philippines. The events were attended by Mr. Kanit Likhitvidhayavuth, the Deputy Secretary General of the Office of Agricultural Economics, Thailand along with Mr. Thanedpon Thanaboonyawat, the Director of Marketing Organisation for Farmers, Thailand, as the representatives from the Government of Thailand as well as the General Manager of the APTERR Secretariat.

Leyte and Samar are amongst the worst damaged cities since the super typhoon struck the coast of the Philippines on 8th November 2014. The calamity results in causing a large number of death toll and leaves thousands of people homeless. The Government of Thailand, through ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR), has donated 5,000 MT of rice to aid the victims on humanitarian purpose. The donated rice arrived in the Philippines during March 2014. The Minister of Agriculture of the Philippines attended the Ceremonial Turnover as the representative from the Government of the Philippines. Moreover, the actual distribution ceremony of the donated rice was also held in Tanauan district later that afternoon. The actual distribution of the rice for the victims in Samar was also held on 24th April 2014.

The distribution of the 5,000 MT of rice donated by Thailand through APTERR Tier 3 Programme in the Philippines.
